Auditions for Chicago

Alton Little Theater invites you to audition for one of the most electrifying and iconic musicals in Broadway history — CHICAGO. This is not your average musical — it’s bold, provocative and demands a cast of fierce performers ready to bring their A-game.

DANCE AUDITIONS:

Chicago is driven by movement — precise, sultry, powerful. It is a dance-heavy production requiring strong dancers and style. We are looking for physically fit performers who are trained dancers or confident movers with a strong sense of rhythm and presence. Dance auditions will include choreography in the Fosse style and possible other center/across the floor combinations. All dancers must come prepared in form-fitting dancewear that allows for full range of motion and proper evaluation of technique and alignment along with appropriate footwear.

There are a small number of roles in Chicago for non-dancers. Non-dancers will stay for the portion of the dance audition where strong movement will be necessary. After that, non-dancer auditionees will be dismissed and the dance auditions will continue.

You may also be dismissed at any time throughout the rehearsal process. This only means that we have seen all that we need to see from you and should not necessarily be taken as a rejection.

MUSIC AUDITIONS:

Please prepare to sing with a backing track in the style of the show. Choose a song that showcases your vocal tone, storytelling, and flair for the bold style of Chicago. No a cappella auditions. We will have a speaker and the necessary connections for your device.

EXPECTATIONS & ELIGIBILITY:

This production will be fast-paced, rigorous, and professional in tone. Rehearsals will demand discipline, punctuality, and full commitment. We are building an ensemble of serious performers who are ready to work hard and shine even harder.

All auditioners must be 18 or older by audition date.

Conflicts must be disclosed upfront — this is not a show for the casually committed.

Rehearsals will begin in mid-late November, Monday-Friday evenings.
