GCPA invites performers ages 12–18 to audition for Mean Girls.
Auditions are being held for Mean Girls, the hilarious and energetic Broadway musical based on the hit film. With a book by Tina Fey, music by Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, this sharp-witted comedy follows Cady Heron as she navigates the unfamiliar social jungle of North Shore High School. After being welcomed into the school’s most powerful clique, the Plastics, Cady finds herself caught between genuine friendship and the intoxicating world of popularity, gossip, and teenage rivalry.
The musical offers exciting opportunities for performers with strong singing, acting, and dancing abilities. From the commanding Regina George and her fellow Plastics to the outspoken Janis, charismatic Damian, and the students and teachers of North Shore High, the show features a colorful collection of characters with distinct personalities and comedic opportunities.
Performers should be comfortable with contemporary musical theatre and pop-influenced vocals, energetic choreography, sharp comedic timing, and emotionally grounded storytelling. Ensemble members play an important role in bringing the bustling world of high school to life, with opportunities for featured moments, group vocals, and dance.
Beneath its humor and larger-than-life characters, Mean Girls explores friendship, identity, insecurity, and the pressure to fit in, offering performers the chance to balance outrageous comedy with genuine heart.
VOCAL AUDITIONS:
Please prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song. Sheet music is preferred. No transpositions and no lead sheets. No a cappella singing. Please do not sing songs from the show. An accompanist will be provided. Backing tracks (karaoke) are not preferred but are allowed. We will provide the speaker and adapters/Bluetooth. Please bring your track on a device.
DANCE CALLBACKS:
A short dance combination will be taught. There are roles available for strong dancers as well as non-dancers. You will be notified at your vocal audition if we would like to see you at the dance call.
